The house on the left is Anghorfa.
Once a grocery shop, it was known as Commercial House.
The cottage on the right is Llain which in 1841 was a carpenter's
shop. It is now a Grade II listed building. The patch of ground
in front of the red door is still known as Penpwlllif from the
time that there was a hole there in which the apprentice stood
and held the lower end of the saw while his master stood above
and they both sawed heavy timbers.
Both these house are on the Census Returns but Llain is shown
as Blaencwm in the 1841 Return.
