These are some extracts from the Vestry Books of Llanbadarn Trefeglwys 1821 - 1899 which are held at the National Library of Wales.

10th March 1825
Let it be remembered that the sum of One Pound being a fine from Mr John Griffith, Monachdy Bach exacted by Mrs Thomas Jones, Gurwerne for a certain trespass committed on the desmene of Monachdy Bach for uprooting two ash trees - to be distributed among the following poor people of the said parish.

17th April 1846
.......It was also ordered and agreed that a new gate be placed at the entrance of the Church yard that the Horse Block be removed from its present situation and be fixed in the most convenient place by the side of the stable. It is also unanimously agreed that a New Church for the service of Almighty God be absolutely necessary and that the Bishop of the Diocese be consulted on the subject and that the Tithe owners be applied to for their subscription towards the desirable object.

12th May 1847
..........here in the presence of the Churchwardens and other parishioners who have here signed their name - till we see how the Govenment shall have decided on the subject of Education, the Bill which is now under discussion in the House of Commons, David Davies, late of Brysog Bach to keep the school in the said school house attached to the Church yard and that he bring up the children with sound and solid knowledge in the principles and practices of the Church of England.

11th May 1848
..........That the said David Jones of Penwern shall call on Capt Gwynne on the subject of rebuilding the church and that the Rev James James shall apply to Lord Lisburne and Mr Price of Knighton on the same subject.

18th May 1855
It was also resolved and agreed to the rate of Two Shillings in the Pound upon the assessment of the Parish to the poor Rates be levied and collected for the purpose of building a New Chuch according to the plans and specifications laid before the meeting, such rate to be levied and collected at the four different periods such may be required for the payment of the contractors. It was also resolved that advertisements be immediately issued for the persons to contract for Building the said Church the committee at the last vestry be requested to receive accept the least tender.

14th May 1856

28th May 1857
It was unanimously agreed that the salary of John Griffirhs, assistant is to be £15 a year for collecting poor rate.

The Parish Register

During the incumbency of the Reverend James James he recorded the cause of death.These are some of the entries he made. He himself died in the Ivy Bush and is buried in the churchyard.
